The Heliconia Press Launches WebTV Series

Mitchell Wilkie

Led by World Champion kayakers Ken and Nicole Whiting, The Heliconia Press (located in Beachburg, Whitewater Region Township) has been producing award winning books and DVDs since 1998, and they’re recognized widely as one of the leading media production companies within the outdoor industry.  Their books and DVDs can now be found in thousands of stores around the world.   This is a particularly exciting year, as it marks this Ottawa Valley firm’s entrance into the world of broadcast television production.

The Kayak Fishing Show is a 13-episode TV series, which evolved from their award-winning Kayak Fishing: Game On films.  The series is currently airing on the World Fishing Network (WFN) in both standard and high definition.   Heliconia is also very excited to have launched its first WebTV series, Kayak Fishing Tales. With a new episode releasing every two weeks, it reached a million views by September 2010.  Also in September, Heliconia’s adventure film Kayak Fishing: Game On 2 has won the Canoe & Kayak magazine Reader’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie of the Year.  After more than 3600 Canoe & Kayak readers voted online, Kayak Fishing: Game On outcasted the year’s top whitewater and sea kayaking videos, including The Risen Sun and Dream Result.  For more information about Heliconia and their great products, visit www.helipress.com.  The County of Renfrew in the Ottawa Valley is the Whitewater Capital of Canada and the best place to live and work for those that enjoy flatwater and whitewater paddlesports.
