Kingston-based Direct Coil Inc. receives funding commitment from the Province of Ontario
Direct Coil Inc. will improve productivity, access new markets and create 20 new jobs with funding from the province’s Eastern Ontario Development Fund. The company’s heating and cooling coils are used in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications, including refrigeration systems and vehicles
“With the help of the Ontario government, we can move to the next phase of our company’s history, adding to our product offering and to focus on exporting our products, based on more than 20 years of expertise in the refrigeration and cooling industry,” says Pat Occhicone, President and CEO of Direct Coil.
The manufacturer currently recently acquired the former Bombardier manufacturing plant on Taylor-Kidd Boulevard in Loyalist Township. It will invest in new equipment and launch two new coil lines to meet new market demands and pursue more export opportunities. Substantial infrastructure upgrades will be made to the plant to support the introduction of the new coil lines.
“The Eastern Ontario Development Fund is helping our companies expand to new markets and create jobs for Eastern Ontario families,” says John Gerretsen, MPP for Kingston and The Islands. “This announcement and Direct Coil’s innovative achievements are another cause for celebration in our community.”
