Dr. Melissa Holowaty, one of the 12 participants in Hastings County’s Family Physician Recruitment Program, is getting set to practice in Marmora and Lake at the Marmora Medical Centre.
“Dr. Holowaty is the fourth family doctor to begin practicing under the Hastings County Family Physician Recruitment Program”, stated Hastings County Warden Jo-Anne Albert. “There is a definite need for family doctors throughout Hastings County and we are excited that residents in Marmora and the Central Hastings area will now have the opportunity to have access to a family doctor”, added Albert.
Melissa completed her Bachelor’s of Chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan and a Doctorate of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto before getting her medical degree at the University of Toronto. “I am very excited about finally being able to practice in this community that has worked so hard to get us here”, stated Dr. Holowaty.
The remaining 8 medical students signed under the Recruitment Program will begin practicing over the next few years across Hastings County.
