How do you get a view of the lake and the world at the same time?

Innovative Haliburton

A series on Haliburton County’s Creative Economy Part 1.
By: Jim Blake

Haliburton County offers many beautiful places to live, incredibly vibrant communities and a wide variety of services that are not available in other rural areas. Haliburton County is the only rural community of its size in Ontario to have a college campus (Fleming College and the Haliburton School of The Arts) and a community-based research centre (U-Links). We have a high school with great athletics and arts programs and an elementary school that offers French immersion. We have two hospitals. You can get lessons in Spanish, go to a yoga studio, see live theatre, fish for bass, see films from the Toronto International Film Festival, get free WiFi at the library, and snowmobile from your backyard. As high-speed internet has become more readily available throughout the County it means that more people can enjoy this quality of life and run a business from their home or local office that has a national or international reach.
