Harvest Haliburton is a grass roots, volunteer committee that supports the development of a local sustainable food system for Haliburton County and is a program of the Haliburton County Community Co-operative.
Through networks, partnerships and collaboration, Harvest Haliburton’s role is to raise awareness, create supportive environments and local food policies that are necessary for a local sustainable food system.
A sustainable food system is a collaborative network. It integrates several components in order to enhance a community’s environmental, economic and social well-being. It is built on principles that further the ecological, social, and economic values of a community and region.
In the summer of 2012 Harvest Haliburton with the support of Sustain Ontario and the Haliburton County Development Corporation produced three videos (links below) about local food.
