Port Hope

Unlock the savings by keeping it local

The Municipality of Port Hope sits comfortably along the shores of Lake Ontario, nestled conveniently South of the 401 between Toronto and Montreal. Port Hope has a unique charm, rolling hills and a historic shopping district like no other. As an added compliment, Port Hope is neighbour to many friendly and fabulous communities and resides in the County of Northumberland.

Northumberland County, City and County of Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes have recently formed a provincially recognized tourism partnership known as Regional Tourism OrganizationRegion 8 (RTO8). Its primary purpose is to build a competitive and sustainable tourism region that maximizes the collective regions’ potential to successfully attract more visitors, increase overnight stays and grow tourism spending. The Region is built on the ideology that if we work and play together, we will succeed together.

The first campaign launched by Region 8 is called My Key My Region. The campaign is directly targeted to residents of the region. The goal of the campaign is to strengthen local resident awareness of the great experiences within our region by participating in the My Key My Region program. Over 160, 000 My Key My Region key-cards will be distributed by mail or made available at the local Tourism Centres. Residents will then be able to register online and collect in-store discounts, gifts and giveaways at all participating locations, just by showing their key.

Port Hope invites you to visit us and discover the savings! The first participating businesses to register include, Bubbles and Gems, Indulgence Specialty Items, The Capitol Arts Centre, Janes Purple Paradise, Peaceful Arts and the Ganaraska Forest Centre. This is just the beginning, more businesses and promotions are being added all the time.

Getting creative with how we define the term “vacation”, could have us tapping into local sources. At a time where gas prices are high and the need for a get-a-way is great, residents are reminded of the term “stay-cation”. Explore your own backyard or visit a neighbours; you undoubtably will be delighted with what you discover. Remember to pack your Key to unlock savings along the way. The experiences of Port Hope await you.
