Arsene Wenger has written off Manchester United’s Premier League title opportunities this season and has cast doubt on whether their crop can restore the club’s greatness.
After four games of the campaign, in which United have won once, dropped once and attracted twice, former Arsenal boss Wenger sees possible in the side of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but insists they aren’t prepared for the top.
“When you see Man Utd, they are one of the examples where there is a potential there,”’ he told beIN Sports. “But they have not found a collective manner.
“Maybe those players are not mature enough to carry the team play of a team like Man United, entirely. That’s the question mark.
“You feel there’s something coming out but it is not ready. They’re not a candidate to battle for the tournament when you see them play.
‘Can they emulate exactly what (Ryan) Giggs, (Paul) Scholes, (David) Beckham failed within a variety of years? Personally, I am not convinced.”
United continue their season at home to Leicester City on Saturday.
