Just in time for the Queen’s Jubilee, residents in Ontario East can enjoy Prince Edward County’s first locally produced gin
Ontario East is adding hand crafted spirits to its already impressive list of artisan foods and beverages.
66 Gilead Distillery in Bloomfield, Prince Edward County recently held its first tasting of Loyalist Gin.
Sophia Pantazi of 66 Gilead Distillery turned her personal interest in spirits into a successful business. “We thought it would be a great idea to start making Canadian hand crafted spirits than reflected the Canadian identity.” Those sprits also include three types of vodka.
She says the County was an ideal place to start. “The lifestyle here is really conducive to families. There’s a little more time to reflect and sometimes that’s a great thing.”
66 Gilead Distillery is part of the Food and Beverage Region developed by four Ontario East municipal economic development offices; Hastings County, Prince Edward County, Lennox & Addington County and the Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation.
